  7. A  few  weeks  ago,  on  my  way  to Edinburgh, I was "GATSO"ed by a Lothian and
  8. Borders Police camera.
  9.  
  10. The following may make you smile nearly as much as it did me   ;-)

  15. Two  members  of  the British Lothian and Borders traffic police were out on the
  16. Berwickshire  Moors  with  a radar gun recently, happily engaged in apprehending
  17. speeding  motorists,  when their equipment suddenly locked-up completely with an
  18. unexpected reading of well over 300 mph....
  19.  
  20. The  mystery  was  explained  seconds later as a low flying Harrier hurtled over
  21. their heads.  The boys in blue, upset at the damage to their radar gun, put in a
  22. complaint  to the RAF, but were somewhat chastened when the RAF pointed out that
  23. the damage might well have been more severe.

  25. It  seems that the Harrier's target-seeker had locked onto the 'enemy' radar and
  26. triggered  an automatic retaliatory air-to-surface missile attack.  Luckily, the
  27. Harrier was operating unarmed.

  29. Otherwise...  "Gee, Officer, sorry about your patrol car........"
